Coastal Wetlands SEPP 14

Last modified: November 4, 2009 - 8:58 AM

State Environmental Planning Policy (SEPP) No.14 is a NSW Government Legislation which aims to ensure the protection and preservation of wetlands which support an abundance of flora and fauna.

The areas covered by the policy are identified on Council's map.

The policy restricts development in wetland areas. Land clearing, levee construction, drainage work or filling may only be carried out within these wetlands with the consent of Council and the agreement of the Director General of the NSW Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Natural Resources.

Such development requires an Environmental Impact Statement to be lodged with Council. The map should be read in conjunction with the State Environmental Coastal Wetlands No.14 Policy.
