Discover what lies beneath the water on the seafloor at a free Port Stephens Council presentation; ‘Seafloor Habitat Mapping’ at Tomaree Library on Monday 24 August, 6.30 – 8pm.
Insight into underwater habitats
Speaking at the presentation will be Senior Environmental Scientist Dr Alan Jordan from the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water as well as Research Leader Dr Bob Creese from the Department of Industries and Investments. Environmental Education Officer Melinda Anderson said the two speakers will showcase their recent research into seafloor habitats. "Alan and Bob will present a fascinating insight into the underwater world of seafloor habitats with wonderful images from side sonar, aerial photography and underwater video," she said.
"Their spectacular images of the NSW seafloor are shedding a light on marine habitats that have never been seen before."
"We believe these breakthroughs in our understanding of marine habitats will assist in future marine research and biodiversity conservation," she continued. The ‘Seafloor Habitat Mapping’ free presentation is part of the Port Stephens Council’s popular Marine Discoveries Series.
