Tilligerry Creek Rehabilitation ProjectsLast modified: December 3, 2008 - 3:56 PM
Port Stephens Council is working with local landholders to develop projects that work towards improving the quality of Tilligerry Creek. Port Stephens Council can offer assistance to landholders to develop and access funding for rehabilitation works within the Tilligerry Creek Catchment. Eligible work is any activity that improves the health of the catchment for example fencing along creeks and drains and revegetation. Cumulative agricultural runoff can have a severe affect on the health of a creek system. Developing vegetation strips to filter runoff and restricting stock access from drains will reduce the amount of contaminated runoff that reaches the creek. Projects can have joint environmental / agricultural outcomes vegetation strips can also provide shelter for stock and fencing drains can assist with the establishment of rotational grazing. This project has been supported by the National Landcare Program, Community Water Grants, Oceanwatch's Tide to Tables Program, Environmental Trust, Department of Primary Industries and the Hunter Centre Rivers Catchment Management Authority. For further information on the project please contact the Officer listed below. Further information and relevant forms are attached below Contact details
