Tilligerry Creek Advisory Committee

Last modified: October 22, 2008 - 1:26 PM

To ensure all sectors of the community have input into the implementation of the Catchment Management Plan, Port Stephens Council has established a Tilligerry Creek Advisory Committee.

Membership in this committee gives individuals the opportunity to be directly involved in the improvement of the Tilligerry Catchment and provides an important feedback link to the wider community.

The implementation of the Tilligerry Creek Management Plan is everybodies responsibility.

Roles

The committee was responsible for reviewing submissions and related technical comments as part of the final review process for the Tilligerry Creek Management Plan.  The committee is now driving the implementation of the plan plus providing a feedback link to the wider community.

Membership

The committee reflects the wide range of people and government departments needed for the plans recommendations to be implemented.  The groups represented on the Committee are Port Stephens Council, Department of Lands, Department of Primary Industries - Fisheries, Department of Primary Industries - Agriculture, the Hunter Central Rivers Catchment Management Authority and a Port Stephens Council Councillor.

Membership was finalised in March 2008 however the committee is now seeking to extend the membership to include 2 community representatives from the Anna Bay catchment.  This is in recognition that the Anna Bay catchment has a direct impact on the health of Tilligerry Creek and is part of the wider catchment.

If you live in the Anna Bay locality and are interested in being a member of the committee please read the attached documents and submit an application form and signed committee protocols. Applications will be assessed by an independent panel. Applications close 27 November 2008.
