Urban Stormwater and Rural Water Quality Management Plan

Last modified: October 11, 2007 - 12:43 AM

Under direction from the NSW Environmental Protection Authority, Local Governments are required to prepare stormwater management plans for urban areas to provide for effective future management of stormwater within the local government area (LGA).

The previous Stormwater Management Plan was adopted in 2000 and during its 3 year implementation Council staff identified that it did not recognise that rural areas can also have a detrimental impact on the quality of water.

In response, the review process was seen as an opportunity to rectify this shortcoming, and the original Management Plan has been expanded to encompass urban fringe and rural water quality issues and as such has been renamed the 'Urban Stormwater and Rural Water Quality Management Plan 2003'.
