Disability Action Plan

Last modified: April 11, 2008 - 8:55 AM

Port Stephens Council in conjunction with its community has designed a Disability Action Plan to further its intention of creating an equitable, inclusive and socially cohesive community.

A Disability Action Plan (DAP) is a document which:

  • describes what a service provider, in this case, Port Stephens Council, intends doing to make the services and facilities it already provides, or has control or influence over, as accessible to, and appropriate for, people with disabilities as can reasonably be achieved;
  • guides Council in eliminating discriminatory practices;
  • describes what action Council will take to further improve the physical and social environment for people with disabilities.
